Solvent Detergent
 

Some viruses have a lipid layer surrounding them. Solvent Detergent treatment inactivates lipid enveloped viruses by destroying the lipid coat and the associated virus.

This safety process is used on all of Grifols' coagulation products: Alphanate®,
AlphaNine® SD and Profilnine® SD

Flebogamma® 5% DIF, an immune globulin solution (IGIV), incorporates Solvent Detergent treatment.

Important Safety Information:  As with all plasma-derived products, the risk of transmission of infectious agents, including viruses, and theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) agent, cannot be completely eliminated.
