As a safety method, viruses can be inactivated when exposed to heat over certain lengths of time. Heat treatment and Pasteurization have been proven to effectively inactivate both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses.

• Heat treatment:
  The product is heated at 80°C for 72 hours.
  
  Alphanate^®Antihemophilic Factor/von Willebrand Factor Complex (Human) is heat treated.
  
  
• Pasteurization:
  During pasteurization, products are heated in solution (liquid state) at 60ºC for 10 hours.
  
  Flebogamma^® 5% and Flebogamma^® 5% DIF are immune globulin solutions (IGIV) that undergo pasteurization.
  
  Both Albutein^® 5%, Albutein^® 25%, and Human Albumin Grifols^® 25% are pasteurized albumin solutions.
