As a safety method, viruses can be inactivated when exposed to heat over certain
lengths of time. Heat treatment and Pasteurization have been proven to
effectively inactivate both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses.
Heat treatment: The product is heated at 80°C for 72 hours.
Alphanate®Antihemophilic
Factor/von Willebrand Factor Complex (Human) is heat treated.
Pasteurization:
During pasteurization, products are heated in solution (liquid state) at 60ºC
for 10 hours.
Important Safety Information: As with all
plasma-derived products, the risk of transmission of infectious agents,
including viruses, and theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD)
agent, cannot be completely eliminated.
