May 4, 2015 (Washington D.C.).- Grifols, a global leader in the production of plasma-derived medicines, participated in the White House Summit on employee "upskilling". At the invitation of the White House, Grifols joined 150 employers, labor leaders, foundations, non-profits, educators and tech innovators from across America share best practices and discuss new strategies for equipping workers with the skills they need to advance into better-paying jobs.
Grifols' Vice President of Plasma Operational Development and Director of the Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis, Beth Eacret, attended the Summit on behalf of Grifols. "Grifols is proud to provide our employees so many opportunities to grow both professionally and personally," noted Eacret. "Grifols has three primary avenues of employee development," continued Eacret, "on-site job performance training and qualification, specialized course work for high potential employees at the Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis, and advanced education towards a college degree in partnership with the College for America."
The Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis was recently awarded a five-year accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). In 2014, the Academy completed 3,791 training sessions and awarded 1,369 nursing continuing education certificates between 2012 and 2014. Coursework within the Academy also serves as a platform for advancement from within Grifols. In 2013, 83% of plasma donor center supervisory and management positions were promoted from within.
To ensure our workforce is able to continue to fuel our rapid growth, Grifols is enrolling- and paying for- hundreds of its employees to earn an accredited degree through College for America at Southern New Hampshire University. Beginning this past fall and ongoing through 2015, Grifols is making the commitment to pay 100% of tuition costs upfront, for any of its eligible 7,000 plasma employees. More than 300 employees have enrolled in the program and four have already earned their degrees.
